Clifford Joseph Trahan was born on September 25th, 1938. He passed away on Saturday, September 3rd, 2016, at his home in Louisiana with his wife of 56 years Ann Trahan by his side. Clifford was best known as Johnny Rebel and Pee Wee Trahan, he was an American country musician. Clifford used the Johnny Rebel name for a series of recordings for J. D. Miller’s Reb Rebel label in the 1960’s.
Mr. Trahan was known worldwide for his recordings as Johnny Rebel in the 1960’s. Many did not know that he was also known as Pee Wee and very well known for his other music and songwriting. Such as “Lache Pas La Patate.” Mr. Trahan also wrote the championship song for Notre Dame High School and Crowley High School.

David Allan Coe got credit for the Johnny Rebel songs on numerous occasions. So much so that Howard Stern had him on the show in the 90’s to explain, and the original David Allan Coe website did a blog post back in February of 2015 to say that The Johnny Rebel CDs Are Not DAC and to explain why David was often confused and labeled as Johnny Rebel. Many fans that enjoy David’s X-Rated CD’s also like the Johnny Rebel music, some of which were labeled the most controversial in music history.
